Stretchie_ Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Wotcha. I used to be able to put my key in the drivers or passengers door and activate the central locking. I was with the missus' dad freeing the diff lock the other week when he noticed the alarm plug was not connected to the rear of the sounder so he mentioned this and plugged it back in for me (I've noticed this before but read about the Disco alarms being a pain in the R's so never plugged it in my self.) It's not been playing up, it's been fine so far HOWEVER I have dogs and in other Rovers (so I belive, in my old M reg 400 anyway) you can turn the immobiliser on but leave the alarm off by locking the doors with the key and keeping the key turned for 10 seconds before removing, which would allow me to leave the dogs in the car without the alarm going off. I can't see how this would be linked but since the alarm was plugged back in I cannot use the key to lock the door, the key turns, nothing happens I've tried unplugging it again but the alarm just goes off and it was about 5 mins again before I could turn it off by putting the key in the ignition. So right now I cannot leave the dogs in the car even to nip into a shop unless I leave the car unlocked. And ideas? I need to sort this Cheers Quote
ste clark Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 is there not a button on the dash to press to immobilise the interior sensors so you can leave the dogs in the car?? i know this is the case with other manufacturers and not owned a 300 for a while now... just train your dogs to bite so you dont need to bother locking it!!! pw8757 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Can I suggest you detach the plug and disconnect both battery terminals. Leave for some minutes to allow all capacitors to drain. Reconnect battery. The alarm should reset. As for the dogs, I once heard about a chap who went to a football match and in the car park a youngster came up to him and offered to "look after" his car for a fiver. Our hero said "Don't worry, the pit bull in the back will look after the car" Without a blink the youth calmly asked him "OK - He can put fires out then?" Good luck with the alarm! Quote
