Prith Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Hi! I have a 1990 RHD Defender 110 5 door with a 2.5 N/A Diesel engine. The original did not have a power steering. Also the AC was an add on by the previous owner. Thanks to the forum I managed to get a 2nd complete power steering kit as one of the members was breaking down his defender. On adding the PAS kit, there is one belt to the PAS pump, and the other goes to the fan There is no third groove for the AC compressor? My question is how do Defenders which have a PAS, A/C have a 3-grooved bottom pulley. How does one have the bottom pulley drive the main fan, PAS PUMP, ALTERNATOR & A/C. Do I need to get a 3- grooved new bottom pulley so tha 1st grove drives the main fan & alternator, 2nd grove drives the PAS Pump and the 3rd outer most grove drive the A/C compressor. Any help on this will be great. Wil post pictures tomorrow. Quote
Les Henson Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 I'm not 100% sure, but I think the PAS pump is powered off the spare set of grooves on the back of the viscous fan, then over a tensioner, and then round the pump. Les. Quote
