SVX90 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I bought my defender 10 days ago. I was surprised to see some parts underneath the car are already rusting. Like the muffler hangers. I contacted my dealer and they said that they do not rust proof Defenders in their Pre delivery Inspections. I have taken the car to a rust proof workstation and asked for a (below) vehicle rust proofing. Is that going to be enough or should I ask for the full vehicle rust proofing (Below + door interior + engine) Quote
bluespanner Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I would take it somewhere that specialises in landrovers, although you might struggle in Dubai. Do cars rust in Dubai? Quote
GBMUD Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I would not have thought that rust would be an issue in Dubai. If you plan to bring the car to the UK in future it would be worth doing. Chris Quote
martinspragg Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 This is a bit off topic but what the hell.... In Belize waste oil or as they say here "burnt oil" is used for everthing from treating the posts your house is sitting on to lighting the fire for the garbage burn. Belizean advice on how to reduce rusting and corrosion on a Landrover (from several sources) is to spray burnt oil over the whole of the chasiss and under parts of the body. Apparently oil from diesel engines have less "acid" in them and is best but I am no sure where this "fact" comes from. Obviously this doesn't apply to a new vehicle but in the absence of Waxoyl I will be doing the treatment in the next few months. Quote
q-rover Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 4-5 cans of this should be all you need. Might be difficult to get hold of there though, and they won't send overseas as it is classified as hazardous material. Quote
