Hi there, I'm thinking of replacing my standard exhaust with an aftermarket one to get the awesome V8 noise. As mentioned, its a 1995 Discovery 1 V8i, I also need the car to get through MOT's though. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I may be able to purchase a full system from that doesn't cost more than my kidneys!!!????

Thanks,

Rob

Any road legal 'sport' system will invariably be stainless steel and cost circa' £350. I have looked into this myself and there are some nice deep sounding systems out there but not cheap.

I have yet to hear a Rover V8 that sounds anything like a big-block chevy etc. this may be due to cubic capacity or shorter stroke etc.

What i have done is remove the real silencer and replaced it with a welded 45 degree angle to straight section (2.5" OD) and this fits in place of the rear silencer using the orignal silencer hanging bracket welded to the pip. It makes hardly any difference to noise levels at idle. To be honest it sounds better inside with the orignal silencer fitted so I may reverse the mod'

What I would ideally like is the system fitted to a TVR 350 but have not yet managed to find any onfo' on what sort of silencers are used.

Cherry bomb isn't a system, it's a silencer - although it's not a very silent type of silencer  type it into google or youtube to see examples.

To be honest just removing one or both of the silencers will have the desired effect, although it can get a bit shouty on long journeys. I ditched the back box from Dad's RR to make it a side-exit (more to avoid damage than anything) and it actually made very little difference to the volume.

Is your V8 carbed or injected? Was thinking about replacing the middle box with a straight through section but I'm not sure if it will muck up the fueling (mines injected). Any suggestions?
