SRQlandy Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 I have a 2.25l diesel that i would like to run on Veg oil. Does the old military engine need any modification or can I simply add the oil and drive away? Thank Quote
white90 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Plethora of info: http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/index.php Quote
TheRecklessEngineer Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Short answer: No - You have a lucas pump - needs to be twin tanked. Follow white90's link, and search on here - it's been covered a few times. Quote
roybatty666 Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Also at current fuel prices is there any financial gain at present? I know my mate has stopped running with it due to the price differential between the two being bugger all Quote
TheRecklessEngineer Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 SRQLandy is in Florida...I'd be interested to know what the difference in price is over there... Quote

SRQlandy Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Right now in my area diesel is $2.60 to $2.85 per US gal whilst Unleaded is at $1.52 to $1.65 per US gal. My interest in knowing about running on vegetable oil comes from the recent high fuel prices in the US. Diesel was selling for around $4.89 less than a year ago and I want to be prepared when those prices return. Also, I would like to be a little greener than I have been in the past. Quote
roybatty666 Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 What happend here is all the veg oil prices shot up when fuel prices went up Quote
