Bjorn-Are
I bought my 1976 109" stw 2,25 diesel a month ago : By now I have changed the unoriginal japanese front seats of unknowned origin with deluxe highback seats and chased away som electical goblins from under the dash This afternoon I set off to change the wheelbearings on the front right hand side. When I removed the wheel I was amazed to see this : I was not aware of that there was disc brakes on the car and I dont think that the previous owner knew either. Can anyone help me identify these brakes? I guess that I eventually have to replace discs and pads, and it would be very nice to know where to get these items
western
might be one of these kits http://www.zeus.uk.com/land-rover.php http://www.heystee-automotive.com/ smart Series station wagon too Welcome to LR4x4.com Please read new members forum info
JimAttrill
How many pistons in the calipers? If only one, it may be one of the Zeus or the Dutch kit using a MB caliper. Any maker's name on the caliper anywhere? Also see if you can measure the diameter of the disk as that will be a giveaway.
SeriousIIa
By looking ad it I can say it are not landrover related discbrakes. Can you make some pics from the caliper and the way it's attached. Then I can tell you if it is a Chris Perfect, TIC , Santana or homebrew set. Regards Bowy
David Sparkes
If / when you have the wheel off again, I suggest you remove a pad, photograph it, and press it into a piece of paper or card, then draw round the outline of both the friction pad and the backing plate. This is a precaution so that if the worst comes to the worst you can visit a Motor Factors or GOOD Parts Shop and compare the outline you have against the outline of the pads in the back of his brake parts catalogue. Those flexible hoses look like steel braided to me, add a picture of how they attach to the caliper. Also a quick scrub of the calipers with a wire brush, especially around any raised letters, casting marks, etc, before taking any pictures may help SeriousIIa identify them. It may mean more trouble now, but overall I'd say those brakes are more of a bonus rather than a problem!! Good Luck.
Steve H
Bjorn, I wondering if you machine is an ex Norwegian military Land Rover & if so could this have been a mod the military did? Maybe worth making some enquiries in that direction. Steve

I can`t find any inscriptions on the caliper, havent gotten around to measure it yet By looking ad it I can say it are not landrover related discbrakes. kan you make some pics from the caliper and the way it's attached. I`m very happy about the discs, only problem I can see is identifying the kit. Steel braid brakelines : Bjorn, I wondering if you machine is an ex Norwegian military Land Rover & if so could this have been a mod the military did? Maybe worth making some enquiries in that direction.Steve The car is ex military, but different from the "standard" military Norwegian cars. The car is supposed to be a standart 109" diesel stw. SeriousIIa
Bjorn, They look like the later TIC (dutch firm) type. The earlier ones used different calipers with MB100 pads. But yours uses a different one. You could send the pic to Paul Heijstee (Heijstee Automotive) for identification and informatie about which blocks to use. He should be able to help you. It can take a few days for him to answer a mail so be patient Good luck!

I sendt a mail at 1355, and 1413 Paul sendt his reply : "Dear Bjørn-Are, Thank you for your e-mail. Yes, this could be a kit I assembled and sold. The brake pads are also used on the new Santana PS10 and the old Peugeot J5 / Citroen C25 / Fiat Ducato van of a particular year. You can also upgrade to the ventilated disc system by changing the discs and calipers. If you have any questions please contact me. Regards, Paul Heystee" This relieves my worries regarding the brakes, now I just have to find a local dealer of the mentioned carbrands. Thanks alot for all suggestions and thoughts!
