92a Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 i need to undo the bolts on my 200tdi timing cover but my 10mm socket does not have enough grip, has anyone got any ideas on a good quality make? (200tdi out of discovery in coilsprung series11a) Quote
western Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Snap on socket or similar that drives/grips on the bolt head sides not on the peaks, don't have any problem with mine. Quote
Les Henson Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 If a 10mm sockets rounds off the bolt head, then tap a 3/8" socket on (it'll be a tighter fit). It may be that your socket is worn, so another or new one will do it. Les. Quote
Timmy511 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 instead of a bi hexagon socket, buy a full hex impact socket. problem sorted. Quote
92a Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 thanks guys, got a new stahwille 6 point socket and they're all loose Quote
bluespanner Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 If even 6 pointers dont do it, i have some snap-on sockets which cut a thread onto the rounded off head and grip tighter the harder you turn. I dont know what I'd do without them. Quote
