TheRecklessEngineer Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 I've modified my series tank to take an RR fuel pump, and modified the fuel pump to reach the bottom of the tank, however during a move I have lost the strainer that fits on the end of the pump to stop debris in the tank entering it. Just wondering if anyone has a dead pump on a shelf somewhere that I could scavenge the strainer from... I doubt the pump will last long without it, and I don't really want to buy another one (just yet anyway!)... Quote
task Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 got any pics of how you did this mod? I'm doing a V8 into series conversion too, was considering posting up some photos. I think I have a pump someplace so it might be a good alternative to fitting an expensive seperate pump Quote
TheRecklessEngineer Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Pics will be coming soon to this thread Zebra rebuild In short, I cut the flange from a rangie fuel tank, cut a hole in the series tank then welded the flange on the outside of the series tank. I (and a few others I think) looked into using fuel pumps from other vehicles, including external ones, but RR pumps are amongst the cheapest (I had one already). You need to modify the pump slightly by extending the pump itself to the bottom of the tank, but nothing rocket science. tel - pm sent Quote
