steve b Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 hi Jason, I have a set of 5 LR 1 tonne rims ( orig 6.5 x 16 ) with 16 bolt (m10) ext. rings which take them out to 8.5 x 16 which are surplus to my requirements ...I'm going to post them in for sale when I get a chance to sort out some pics...as they are weld-on rings I'm going to sell them as off-road use only the external rings are stainless Pm me if you are interested Steveb Quote
bluespanner Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 So am i right in thinking that the tyre seats on the outside of the original rim?! Quote
Young bobtail Rhys Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Mine are made by BT Fabrications. 16" and 32 bolts Quote
saley Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 I made these double beadlock split rims 24 bolt with poly prp insert ran pitbulls on them at 5psi now ronning boggers at 3.5psi front 4.5psi rear Quote
TomG Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Saley, Those rims look good! Is there any change in rim width / offset? Are they suitable in terms of balance and alignment for use on the road? Do you have any plans to put these into production? Cheers Quote
FLASH Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Theirs only two makes worth a mention mach5 and staz both are not cheap though Quote
saley Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Saley, Those rims look good! Is there any change in rim width / offset? Are they suitable in terms of balance and alignment for use on the road? Do you have any plans to put these into production? Cheers AFAK there are no beadlock wheels or split rim wheels that are road legal and if you have welded ring on a standard rim and have a accident i wouldn't like to be in your shoes no change to offset or width yes i have made a couple of sets already for offroad use only £90 a wheel you supply the wheels Quote
TomG Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 I'm aware of the situation with weld on single beadlocks. Stazworks split rims are road legal aren't they? Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Yes I have stazworks internals, they are basically classed as a split rim (which LR did make) and a run flat system (basically what HumVees have) Stauns are also road legal - checked both with VOSA and the DVLA Tech dept HTH Nige Quote

custom-conversions Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 YesI have stazworks internals, they are basically classed as a split rim (which LR did make) and a run flat system (basically what HumVees have) Stauns are also road legal - checked both with VOSA and the DVLA Tech dept HTH Nige Are you sure they are 100% road legal? They may be a great quality product but I don't think they are DOT marked for the US highway use? Probably not road legal in the US & I presume they wouldn't be legal in the UK either. Split rims may be legal in the UK but don't they have to be made & approved (officially) before being legal or meet certain International standards. Tyres do, aren't rims the same? Why would rims made by Stazworks be legal & Saley's not? Some of Stazworks rims use second hand humvee rims with new centres welded in. Hummers have road legal beadlocks in the US with the DOT # stampted into the rims but it also states that they are for military use only so I don't know the legal opinion of their use on the highways, its questionable. Do the people at DVLA actually understand what they are being asked, you can get several answers to the same question as different people interpret the rules differently. Please correct me if i'm wrong, I'm not questioning the quality of Stazworks rims just interested to know why not many firms are offering an alternative in the UK. I'd gladly have a set of Staz rims if they weren't so expensive to import & a weak £ doesn't help at the moment. Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Hi again, They have something / code / words etc stamped into them which is enough, can't remember what but made them OK here Nige Quote

saley Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 What size are the wheels mate 15 or 16 inch and how wide are they? Thanks Mine are 15inch 10 inch wide but i used the opportunity when i split them to take 1 inch out but left the offset the same as to road legal, i wouldn't like to have a accident and then have to argue it out in court Quote
GARY ANDREWS Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 you could always go the cheap way and use diy weld ons.£130 plus p&P £20.Its also going to a grey area with any beadlock made unless its 100% approved in this country and so sort of bs number, which would then make them loads of money gary 07711879393 you get 10 rings to weld on, no bolts Quote
zim Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I've been watching this post for a little while now.... Do any of you guys have pictures of just the rims, so i can see inside ? Thanks Gordon Quote
