Petrol88 Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Dear all I have a Defender 90 with a 4 cylindr petrol engine the previous owner seems to have spent a lot of money and it has a new weber carb. It is very poor starting from cold. Having applied choke and a little throttle if fires straight away for three or four revolutions and then stops. The engine will then spin for up to five minutes until it catches, then a couple of pumps of the acclerator and it fires and runs. It is an electrical fuel and is pumping fuel through to the carb Any suugestions apreciated Quote
Happyoldgit Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 If clean fuel is being constantly delivered to the carb then I'd say you need to look at the carb itself. Quote
Petrol88 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Dear all Check carb blew out jets, found the little black plastic elbow at the back of the carb was loose and on closer inspection the small filter was partially detached, bare in mind this is a new unit, took elbow from old carb, I am wondering if this could have possibbly stopped the choke working? Any way leave the vehicle for a couple of days now and see if it is cured. Quote
