fender1234
you could fit some taller tires that would have similar effect and look good
western
what tread pattern on the 235's, I've run BFG MT's in that size with no excess noise, currently runnning on 255/85's.
ibexman
Its not the tyre noise Ralph its engine noise im on factory fit TRs
western
Oh right, did to Isle of Mull & back in my mates Td5 DC last year, thougth it was really quiet compared to a Tdi vehicle, I'm assuming there's not much matting to absorb excess noise
stravaigin
Our two TD5 90s have one of each, The disco (1.2) transfer box is much more relaxed to drive, especially on the motorway. Td5 with the 1.4 T/box sounds really harsh about 65-70, it will do more but its hard work (it will actually do a ton with 235/85 BFG ATs & Van Aaken on the autoban but I wouldn't recommend it!) Green 90 came with a Disco T/case and will cruise happily at 85 where legal. Thats with 285s (33") cooper STs as well which most say is too big for that gearing! It is just much easier to drive around town too, so much so that I plan to change the other one out sometime. If you tow heavy trailers then thats a consideration though. I don't very often. bluespanner
I have 265/75R16s with a disco box and find it a bit overgeared in fifth. It dont much like headwinds or hills. Thats with 200tdi.
