Tubela H3PR

My £23  tube bender wont hold pressure :( .

Took it in to my local hydraulics place and they are telling me that it is very difficult to take apart and they would have to send it off to be repaired.

As Tubela want £100 for a seal kit, sending the machine to them doesn't exactly look too attractive financially!

So, has anyone successfully taken one apart and replaced seals?

No, mine leaks a bit and Mr Moglite gave me some Citroen hydraulic fluid (I think) which swells the seals and stops the leaks a bit.

How bad is it? Can you just keep pouring it in the top?! think of it as fuel to run the bender on! :D

At the end of the day, what is SO hard about taking it apart? I'd have a crack and just replace the seals with off the shelf equivalents at 5% of the price?

Al.

P.S. You can do mine while you're at it!

You havent broke it already Bish , Cant be that difficult to take apart , and seals are only pennies from the right places .

Drop it in if you are passing ,

That reminds me I still have yer Front cage here , We are starting a job in Highbridge this week , so I may be down your way to drop it off .

but dont ask him if you want it back together this side of 3050 ;)

Bish if you do take it apart can you get some pics as i have one two, as an aside mine is missing the in/out lever knob and wondered if you have a pic of the correct one.

Cheers, Will.

Yup the threaded shaft is there its just missing the ball.

As the end of the shaft is sharp and the lever often requires some effort to move it starts to mash your hands up after a while (not that thats really spurred me into doing anything about it  )

A pic would be handy, and if its what i think it is i might be able to nick one off a jcb control lever.

Mr W is "expert" at taking things apart............. :)

Nige

Critically Bish wants to put it back together again which may be a problem :P . That said, how tricky can it be and, if you fail, you can send it tubela any they can lighten your wallet by £100

I have much the same problem with mine, not sure whats the best fluid to use in it ethier, sadly mine wasn't £23quid and is missing the former which will do roll cage tube :(

Anyway, I pestered tubela enough to give me the diagrams and parts list. prices are probably out of date but might be of use.

Ha ha!

I was just about to post the same info! I spoke to and then emailed Tubela yesterday and got the same info back by email today. I have a 2008 pricelist and prices are about 5% higher on my sheet.

Maybe we should have a "self help" group where we all take our H3PR's and try and fix them together!! :D

What size former are you looking for.... could possibly lend you one if I have it....?

Cheers al just what i thought, At about £3.50 for a new one i might have to splash out and buy a genuine one

We could nearly start a club with the amount of these on here, mine has a big blue metal box with the tubela logo on it with all the formers in, is this a genuine thing? anyone else got one?

Will.

maybe we should ask for our own forum :)

yeah that's how the kit comes from the factory, mine is sans box as are most that come up for sale. One thing to bear in mind, tubela only ever took cheques and postage was pretty unreasonable last time I spoke to them (admittedly that was a while back, hopefully things are a bit better), but you 3.50 part may cost 25quid :(

If you strip yours can you post up a few pics as I'll be attacking mine soon too.
