Hi all

In the process of taking the bucket seats and harness's out of my series 2 and going back to the original seats.

My series 2 is a 1968 tax exempt

Can i fit just lap belts due to the age of the series (1968) or does it have to be the 3 point standard lap and shoulder seat belt like the modern cars

Many thanks in advance

Chris

I found this on a Ford Mustang forum, of all places....

The MOT testers manual does say however that post 1st Jan 1965 you must have "A belt which restrains the upper part of the body (but need not include a lap belt) for each seat".

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_510.htm

Presumably they mean the outer front seats.

You found it there cos mustangs, and a lot of other yank cars came with lap belt's.

OT so sorry but always amused me.

Yanks could not decide on what to do about so many people getting head injuries from the dashboard.

So

Instead of fitting proper seatbelts they kept the lap belts and cut the passenger dash away instead. :P
