angusb
Anyone done it? I'm thinking about it but I'm not sure whether the gearchange would be too far back or not. If you've done it could you post a photo of the gearchange between the front seats please.
white90
The transfer box lever will also be in the wrong place.
bluespanner
This is what I have in my truck. (200Tdi on disco R380) The gearchange is in a really nice to use place, although you will need to modify your tunnel for clearance, else you wont get 2nd, 4th or reverse, as the gear lever ends up very close to the seatbox. The high and low ends up sort of infront of that. I'd post a picture but i dont know how. Roland

I have the whole car it's coming out of so I can use whatever's there and make the tunnel fit to suit. I was just a bit worried about it being too far back. Glad you find it comfortable to use. Thanks for your help. Angus
bluespanner
I'm trying to work out how to post a pic. I used the disco sticks, I did think they may be a bit short but its fine.

bluespanner
Sorry about the poor lighting, heres one i just took. Note use of rangie handbrake, the disco cable that came on the box wouldnt reach a defender lever. I prefer this one.
angusb
Just what I needed. Cheers Roland. Did you split the box and engine or fit both still together?
bluespanner
Fitted the bulkhead ontop squire.

bluespanner
Not really... The pic doesnt really show you the angle that your arm naturally goes to the levers with. I use high and low and difflock often and it isnt annoying or difficult.
angusb
Fitted the bulkhead ontop squire. So you had the bulkhead out and dropped engine and gearbox in in one go? Then fitted bulkhead back and made tunnel fit after? I was planning on changing the bulkhead at the same time anyway so I thought I might be able to drop in the engine, gearbox and transfer box in one go, then fit the new bulkhead and put the wings back on. bluespanner
Thats exactly what I did. I had a rolling chassis, put all the drivetrain in, then bolted the body on. I have no issues with bulkhead clearance.
