mudmuncher
Hi all I thought my rear prop was at fault due to a noise when running so today i removed it and thought i would test drive using only front wheel drive to see the the noise had gone. Good new it had so i need a new reap prop, but the problem is i selected high range 4wd and i had no reverse !!! It drove prefectly in 1,2,3,4, put it in reverse clutch up no drive at all !!! Is this normal do you have to have the rear prop on to reverse ??? Confused Many thanks Chris

Phil Hancock
Have you got auto free wheel hubs fitted by any chance.
mudmuncher
I have FWH fitted mayflower type but they were locked as i could drive the landy in forwards gears Would these stop the drive in reverse ?? Cheers chris
AdamP
AFWH will only lock in one direction like a bicycle hub AFAIK. Tray pedalling backwards on a bicycle and it won't do anything....

Mine lock in both directions. I'm not sure what type they are though - the naff, leaky type.
Rich_P
I'm not aware of any free wheeling hubs that only lock in one direction. My MAP hubs lock for both directions with the use of a big spanner.

Done a bit more research, turns out there aren't many of this type left anymore, most AFWH will now unlock and lock in the opposited direction
