Divster
My old 65amp alternator is on the way out on my 300tdi. I'm looking at uprating to a 100/ 120 amp if possible. I already know that AMR4247 (100a) is a direct replacement but are there any others at 100a or will a V8 120a alternator fit?? (Part no's if poss please ) Dave

white90
Mondeo is a PITA on a 300TDI the pulley has 5 grooves rather than the L/R 6 the L/R pulley does not fit the mondeo shaft. easier to just get a Disco/RR 100-120amp version and fit instead
davidlandy
how different is a 100a alternator to a 65a one? can you change one into the other by changing the little pack on the rear of the unit?
white90
they are totally different, the 100amp one is bigger overall. easily fitted but remember to increase the charging wire size to avoid a fire.

mmgemini
Tony,Will a 120a V8 alternator drop straight in? Dave It should. You will have to change pulleys and maybe reset the mounting lugs. If the mounting lugs are the wrong way.there's three bolts that hold the alternator together. Undo the bolts and turn the back of the alternator round to where you need them. Don't forget the wire from the alternator to the starter motor/battry feed. I eat rat poison. The didn't change my dosage last friday ?? mike I can cause trouble in an empty house !!
