Mark90
We've been toying with the idea of doing this. But it's a bit close to (weekend before) the AWDC 'run what you brung' at St Wulstans which will be much more fun Besides I have a feeling this will be a weekend of watching over lifted lifted, over fueled tdi disco's wobbling and smoking along the 1/
white90
Can always take out "other cars" on trailers behind the L/Rs It's been a while since I've been to Santa Pod and a RWYB event back in 86/87 infact 16secs in my MkII 1600 sport Escort. I reckon with a bit of luck I could better that.
Henry Webster
My cars built for corners not the straights! Besides I don't fancy getting beaten by over lifted lifted, over fueled tdi disco's wobbling and smoking along the 1/
bobtail84
Here you go.. Maybe some of the Mega Squirted member's could put the V8 v oil burner myth to bed.. Jeff
Les Henson
I went to Long Marston Drag strip a few times to watch Run What You Brung. Some seriously dissapointed owners, and some seriously blown engines too. Always good for a laugh. Les.

Dave W
ooooh - sounds like fun, will go to that to watch i think.wonder if davew will go in his LS powered truck? Love to see that. I'd considered it but have visions of it all ending in tears if something goes wrong. It'd be too tempting to increase the rev limiter and start playing with gear change positions. Traction would also be a problem because the only road biased tyres I have are 225/75s which would decrease the gearing dramatically and increase the problems of wheel spinning. even with 235/85s I still get problems under acceleration with the front wheels "chiruping" when it changes up a gear and causing it to pull to one side or the other. Not that I've given much thought to it you understand ! There's also the problem that it clashes with the D44 weekend and I quite fancy going down to that. nicks90
dave - just engage all your lockers, it'll be fine for grip. probably more grip than most of the facy boys have in their tweaked rwd rice burners.

There's always; Mud RWYB - This won't be a full quarter mile but it will be a flat straight muddy drag strip set up near the off road course. £10 for 3 runs

I enjoyed Donnington but I did meet some people that moaned about how busy it was.

plasticbadger
I used to do RWYBs and compete in the Street Racer Sunday series in the Mk1 Escort I had before my first Discovery. Generally Santa Pod is bleak, cold and the day involves more standing around than driving. You queue for an hour, then you have some excitment in a good burn out and launch. This is followed by snapped half shafts, sheared flywheel bolts, blown engines, cooked clutches, destoyed tyres, etc. If it goes well you post a time, which will be slower than you hoped. Then repeat. Even with the temptation of a mud run I think I'll do what I bought my Land Rover for and stay well away from drag strips thanks...
