Mack
Hi Has anybody installed TC on a Defender? what would be main issues to modify? opinions and jokes are welcome. M
BogMonster
Main issue would be about £2000 for the bits maybe more (the modulator is over £1000 new, plus speed sensors, plus new brake lines, plus ECU... wiring ....) for which you could get a set of proper lockers and quite a lot of change
101sean
Retro fitting ABS/ETC to a defender would be hideously expensive. Needs ECU, wiring loom, ABS modulator, sensors (4 of @ £250 each ) top swivel pins, CV joints, rear hubs etc etc. So that will probably be a no then! Mine is factory fitted and it's very good but dread it going wrong (at least it's not a Disco II )

Mack
Quite clear then. Thanks
FridgeFreezer
Fiddle brakes can be very useful (and cheaper), 4-wheel fiddles would give you the functionality of ETC on a very, very basic and labour-intensive level. For ~£1000 or less you can fit axle diff locks both ends and then that's about as much traction as you're going to get.
