Excellent news steve, good if you could make it.

Site cost is looking like £15 and insurance £12, so event to be £27 with current prices. i will be looking to have some cash up front when i confirm the booking for the land which will be early May.

Site is looking like three areas, linked by 800m of road, including one quarry with the remainder woods, there is a little (!!!) water as well so i am sure the Hybrid will perform well Tim!!!

Can you give a location for the site? Ball park would do!! just so us that don't live down south can get an idea of distance as me and rog(898kor) would be interested.

Excellent to hear things are progressing!

A couple of queries regarding the rules and regs:

Are you enforcing the Mandatory equipment? I for one do not have all the equipment listed:

No ground anchor and my recovery points aren't picked out in red .

I do have a fire extinguisher, but not sure of the size.

Also, are we to bring our MOT certs along too?

Just reading through myself as well,,

a couple of points

It is mandatory that drivers or passengers of soft or open topped vehicles wear crash helmets complying to BS6658 standards

Ground anchor/plough.

Winch blanket (minimum weight 1kg). It must not be permanently attached to the cable or hook (James is on this case,, !!! )

Competitors are not allowed to smoke while competing (well that stuffs a few of use !!!)

the truth is i cant access the site due to no plugins on this PC and they wont download!!!!! So will have to double check from work tomorrow.

Firstly not to be little the rules and regs that i cant access but some of my observations are:

I can confirm from previous CSW events that drivers of soft topped vehicles and open topped vehicles have not been wearing crash hats.

the only person i have seen with red recovery points is Si White and hes not a CSW member (and they look naff!!!). Read into that that mine arent red and i am yet to fail CSW scrutineering with them.

A CSW rep will be there to over see proceedings. i have been instructed to inform everyone competing to have read and comply with the regs (hence above)

Ref the ground anchor - useful to have (but bloody expensive some of them). You may need one to get some of the punches, however, there will be marshalls vehicles, other competitors around that could possibly be persuaded to help if you didn't have a ground anchor.

Fire Extinguisher and first aid kit was something they (CSW) picked up at the last event.

Prior to the event you will sign a proforma stating that you have read the rules and regs and will comply with them. This will also cover the insurance (for road section) tax and MOT bits, hence your signature is sufficient for my needs.

I will be checking shackles, tree strops and winch blankets and thats it prior to the event. Every vehicle should have these.

Tim - Winch blanket (ditto Darths) i have been asking for these (quite a few times now) and am still chasing. Hes coming to the event so hopefully will bring some then if i ask him and he has some in. failing that you can borrow one of mine on the day!

ON i thought i this was a orienteering exercise- no-one mentioned vehicles.

Seriously though- we are taking Johns- there was a hint that me "mihgt" let me drive, but i'm not sure that's physically possible (the sterringwheel might interfere with proper use of stomach once ensconced in the vehicle- no comments thank you Mr Jones!), but i am a bit too much of a fatty to bitch properly so we will have to see! I have promised not to to trash it though!
