bushtrekker
I'm trying to renew my speedo cable, but the drive at the transfer box won't go in, does anyone know if there are different sizes of square ends for a 110? Cheers, John
BogMonster
No you probably just need to spin it around a little to get it to engage - AFAIK all are the same and you can even shove one of the later type electronic speedo senders into an old transfer box
western
the drive gears are a common size for the cable square end, it must line up right or it could snap the end off.
Prith
the drive gears are a common size for the cable square end, it must line up right or it could snap the end off. Mine too is broken, but according to the parts manual there are two types of speedo cables, one a single piece and the other one a two piece, how does one know which is the correct one. IS there any way the cable is locked into the gearbox so that it does not come out?
western
use a single piece cable. PRC6022 at the greabox end the cable fits in the speedo drive gear shaft & is held by a U shaped plate that has a 10mm hex head bolt securing the plate to the gearbox casing. dave88sw
does the defender use a square cable end or is it just squashed into an oval? Any help appreciated Dave
Les Henson
LT230 is square cable end. The drive mechanism can be just levered out and is in two pieces. Perhaps there's a bit of the old cable still in it? Les.

JimSlater
Same problem here... missing that retainer clip. Found the part on ebay, but not sure what bolt/nut that is.. Anyone know of a part number?
western
it should be a stud & nut, stud 571536 plain M8 washer & a suitable M8 nyloc nut. Parts bok doesn't show numbers for these 2 items
nickwilliams
It's M6 not M8.
