JBorges
After converting my tailgate to a normal door I need a fog lamp rubber protector like the picture. Anyone have one extra spare? Used or New?
Gazzar
Never seen one there before - but my 109 is a pickup so, who knows? Anyway - it kind of looks like a bumpstop for an Isuzu Trooper, perhaps it would work? G.
secondjeremy
Or put a checkstrap on the door.
Gazzar
Or put a checkstrap on the door. Doesn't the door come with a check stop? I must look at mine. I'm sure the protector isn't standard. G.
sotal
Mine never had a rubber protector. Just the check strap which stops the door opening that far
JBorges
I have half door not a safari door.
western
could use the rear door check bar & brackets from a 90 or 110 SW or hardtop, the door frame is common so it shouldn't be to hard to fit.
dave88sw
i think most original if not all series with rear doors had them, mine does. I'm sorry though, i havent a clue where to get one. Maybe use a bump stop?
JBorges
This rubber protection is a standard on a SW's. If I find one on a junkyard...
Gazzar
This rubber protection is a standard on a SW's.If I find one on a junkyard... I've looked through the parts manual, and optional parts manual and can't find it, sorry. Went through the defender book too, no sign. Mind you - I may have missed it. There is an internal stop mechanism, though.# G.
Snagger
My 109, despite coming with a rear door, door mounted spare and fog light from the factory, never had one of those protector buffers. I don't think it needs one, if the door's check/stay rod is working correctly (there should be a rubber block in the door track, which will allow the door to over-open if missing. Personally, I think those buffers are damned ugly, and I'd imagine they may be hard to find. Check the door stay rod is correctly fitted and then try opening the door to see if the spare wheel can hit the lamp. If not, then you have no need for the buffer.
