TD5 clutch pedal noise

I've got a 2000 model TD5 Disco2. The clutch pedal makes a bit of a squeak/groan noise on the last part of its travel, and feels a bit stiff and jerky. It's perfectly fine with the engine switched off, and when the engine is just started up from cold, but it starts after a couple of minutes. I'm going to change the master and slave cylinders anyway, but I fear it's more likely the release bearing. Any opinions?

I suggest, before replacing bits, pull over after the two minutes when it starts to squeak, stop the engine and try to identify the source of the noise. If it's like you said, the "clutch pedal" making the noise, maybe it's the pedal itself squeaking and some WD40/grease will sort it. Or maybe it comes from inside the box (from clutch mechanism) and replacing the master/slave cylinders won't help.

Good thinking! Tried it this evening after my wife had been out to the shops in it, and found it was still making the noise after the engine was turned off. Once it had cooled down, after about an hour, the noise went away again and the pedal was smooth down to the floor. Suggests it's probably not the relase bearing, at any rate!
