Ivan Posted April 17, 2009 Share Posted April 17, 2009 My wifes defender keeps getting a strange vibration. It occurs at about 45mph and feels like you are driving over corrugations. The whole vehicle vibrates but you can't feel it through the steering wheel (IYSWIM). What I have done so far is :- Removed front prop and test drive - No difference but the vibration does seem a little less. Removed rear prop and test drive - Same results as above Removed rear half shafts and test drive - Same as above Had all the wheels balanced - No difference. Checked all wheel bearings - No discernable play in them. BTW I also checked all the UJ's in the props, no play and all well greased. Anything else I should check ? Vibrations that are felt thru the vehicle but not the wheel are generally from the rear end. I'd be checking the bushes and A-Frame balljoints.
