Tetsu0san
Hi all. I am a little bit new to this, so please be patient I recently bought a Disco in order to do a little bit of off roading and greenlaning, but it would seem that there are not too many greenlanes in Oxfordshire (that I am aware of anyway) I have been to a couple of pay and play events which were excellent fun, but there is always that risk of breakage so I would like to channel more into greelaning. My question is 2 fold really. Firstly, is there anywhere in Oxfordshire to go greenlaning, or anywhere a little further away? Secondly, does anyone want to go greenlaning in my area, or is there anyone I could tag along with? Many thanks
headhunter
Welcome to LR4X4. I suggest you try a search for a local Land Rover club who will have off road days, including lanes and loads of helpful advice. We do not post "greenlane" information as a rule on the forum, however I am sure someone from the forum local to you will be able to help. Juz
Where in Oxfordshire are you? Juz
Tetsu0san
I am roughly between Witney and Oxford. Just north of Eynsham in a place called Hanborough.
HoggyN
It's a sad fact that Oxfordshire used to have plenty of good lanes until just a couple of years ago. Now they are virtually all gone and you will need to look at neighbouring counties. It all depends where you are. Have a look here Trailwise. If you join the Green Lane Association you will get better access. The local group also organise green lane runs in the summer months, although they do tend to be around the north of the county (Banbury). Tetsu0san
Distance is not too much of a problem (as long as it's not miles and miles away), and Banbury is really not that far from me. I had heard that most of the lanes have been closed in the area, and I really don't mind going out of the area to have a good day out. I met a chap in the Cirencester/Tetbury area who said there were loads around there, and I know there are a few in Wiltshire too, it's just having the knowledge to know where to go, or being able to tag along with others who do have that knowledge. I investigated this a little about a month ago and I went to the library to get a map which would detail the 'legal' byways and routes in Oxfordshire, but the people in the library looked at me as if I was from another planet and I came away with no more information than I went in with. I looked into being a member of GLASS, and I think that will probably be the next step. Still, I am hoping it will flood again in my area, that could be the next best thing to greenlaning!! Only had a Mondeo last time and it's just not the same...

Hi, I am also in Oxfordshire and a couple of days ago found a copy of an off road magazine from last year. In it, it details quite a good stretch of green laning around Chilton not far from Didicot! If I can work out how to do it I will pm you a map image with it marked. Cheers James
Captbny
Hi Guys. I know this is a super old post but I appear to have a free Sunday all of a sudden. Also new to greenlaning and in the same area as you guys, just wondered ( as you are no doubt much more experienced 12 years later!😂) if you had any luck, suggestions or further info on this topic. many thanks in advance. james. FridgeFreezer
If you are willing to travel as far as Ringwood, Shire LRC have a play-day at Mannington this Sunday, you'd be very welcome to pop along - spectating costs nothing if you're not sure whether to have a go or not. http://www.shirelrc.com/event/play-day-mannington-three-legged-cross-2/

Rough idea of location? nearest big town? Oxfordshire isn't doing so well for lanes as a lot got shafted by the NERC bill a few years back. Oxfordshire has a pretty good definitive map on the county website: https://publicrightsofway.oxfordshire.gov.uk/standardmap.aspx
