suggs
looking at my 92 200 tdi 90 there seems to be only a lower pin bearing and the upper is just a thicker pin. is this correct?
ChrisM_110
Early top pin assembly is a pin, bush and thrust washer, lower is a pin and bearing. Later assembly, bearings top and bottom. You should be single bearing from your model year. Like this piccy.
Retroanaconda
Will be what is known as a 'Railko bush' in the top, not a bearing. Taper bearing in the bottom, adjusted through shims under the top pin.
suggs
yeah thats what i have same as the left hand diagram. other thing i need to ask is, ive got my hub and swivel assembly striped down to replace all bearings and gaskets etc after i had a bearing collapse and take out the stub axle, when i drift in the new bearing races do i lube them first or drift them in dry? cheers
Retroanaconda
I did them dry, which is correct as far as I know. They rotate with the hub assembly, so there's no need for it to be lubed.
