How much??? HELP PLEASEEE

Recommended Posts

nice to meet you all :) i was just wondering how much it would be to buy and get fitted a new rear crosmember on a 1993 90?? thankyou!

hi there i think new cross members are about £120 odd but you can get them a hell of a lot cheaper at the landrover shows , a decent landrover specialist will give you an over the phone price, probably 4-6 hours work ,but if your new to the landrover world get yourself a welder and have a go at fixing it yourself, its half the fun of ownership!

depends how rusty the chassis legs are,

Pretty easy job any competent welder will do it for you for some beer tokens.

If you intent to to offroading in the future, make modifications to the crossmember now where you can have it on a bench

for example, winch tray, reinforced for roll cage plates. etc etc

Just done mine , i bought a Bearmach cross member with extensions and it cost me £112 +vat from my local independent Land rover man , got my Dad to fit it , the whole job probley took around 5 hrs to complete as the chassis did need a little more work just beyond the extensions , but when you get the x member it will need so fetling and some making good as the pattern parts are no way as good as the origenal.

Good luck and welcome. :)

Granted, but if you are new to welding, replacing a rear crossmember is not the place to start! it's a critical part of the vehicle, especially if you using it for towing, and a bodged repair is simply unsafe and dangerous.

No - 30cm rule/tow bar mounting points apply. Some rusty holes in a rear crossmember will not fail.

Les.

Even if you dont do the welding you could do all the cutting unbolting refitting and get a mobile welder or drive it to a garage to do all the stuff you a bit worried about doing yourself
