disgruntled
Help please my wife has got a 01 discovery v8 auto lpg and has developed a fire crackling noise from underneath around the transmission area, it only happens when the car is under load and not normal driving. All the gears seem fine and smooth, no knocking or clunking. Also it has lost all the transmission fluid due to the cooler pipe popping off twice last summer. Last weekend we lost all of the coolant out of the engine twice, due to the bottom rad pipe popping off , could it be coming from the bottom of the engine? steve_d
Check the state of the universal joints on the prop shafts. I did the normal checks on mine, trying to twist the two sections and pushing and pulling and found nothing. In trying to isolate the noise I took one end of the prop off and then found it almost seized solid so the normal checks below may not find the problem. I also agree the U/J is the most likely culprit. Steve
