suveer
Hi all, The hand brake light on the dash on my 1997 disco 300tdi remains on while driving. It flickers off and on continuosly. The brake fluid is full. Could it be a faulty brake light switch. Where would the switch be located. Any help will be appreciated. thanks
western
nothing to do with the brake lights. check the master cylinder cap float is able to move, just let the fluid drain out & then shake the cap so the float moves, refit it to the master cylinder & see if the light is out with engine running/hand brake released, if the light is still on, check the wiring as far as possible for shortout & check the handbrake switch & wiring. K88 MUD
Try pushing down on the hand brake lever when its off.....sometimes the gater gets stuck under the lever and keeps it push up or the cable is siezed and not releasing propperly. ste clark
there is that silly little wire that plugs into the bottom of the handbrake lever... can be easily nocked off.. worth a peek to see if it is still on!!
Disco-Ron
This can also happen if your handbrake cable is starting to seize.......... sometimes the cable holds the lever up, and hence the light stays on....
suveer
Hi guys Thanks very much for your suggestions. the problem appeared to be the cap on master cylinder. The float was jammed. Western. thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers
