I think you should have made the options clearer....specifically, one question should read 'Did you follow a link from the LRE Forum?'. I had to re-read the options several times to avoid ticking the wrong box. Have been involved in a great deal of market research....email me if you need any help with wording.

I was told to come and have a look at the LRE forum by White90 just after him and GBMUD had pulled me out of a river.

So you can blame TONY C for all my mindless posts with no useful technical advice :D

The management told me early that we were moving home, so it had chance to sink in...

I found the LRE forum because I was already registered when they hoodwinked it of LROi ...it was originally the LROi forum when Kev Girling was part of that organisation, when he jumped ship he took it with him, LROi's fault really lack of foresight meant when emap brought LROi they forgot to buy things such as the bookshop, website and Billing show...So when LRE set up they already had a few choice items at there disposal..

Found you here through a post on ORRP a site I have a bit of an interest in ;)

oh and how to gain visitors and members, spam the other sites which have a connection with your subject...doesn't have to be blatant spamming, but join in post stuff occasionally suggest they visit your site....worked for me :D

You do it blatant and you'll end up in a spam bin

In France they say cherchez le femme, in Canada we say chercheze la Kev :) :) :)

I was on LRO and then LRE from when it started. Anyone recall when the old LRO url allegedly got pointed to a porn site for a bit (no pun intended) following the split?

I dunno when exactly but it wasn't long after that address was vacant.

I too have been around since the LRO days lo these many years.

I've been chasing this Forum since LRO days, like some above wondered why all the posts were drying up on the LRE Forum, didn't think out of the square enough to figure out why, found my way to here via a Drongo post on ORRP as related earlier. Not really sure which of the above options really fits, possibly the one about other Land Rover related sites. Cheers, Steve.

Les/Geoff

I note that www.landroveraddict.com and www.landroveraddict.co.uk web addresses were mysteriously registered on 3 August and 5 August respectively by an undisclosed registrant via a nominee in Belfast...I hope this was by a friendly sole.

This leaves a couple of other viable addresses available for a bit of mischief.

Assuming that the Forum now holds the www.landroveraddict.com and .co.uk addresses, do you not think it's time you asked for a whip round to cover costs of registering the .net, .org and .org.uk options? Paypal would be an easy route for most people - asking for a fiver would notch up some resource....can't be the only one happy to donate.

Setting this up must have already been expensive, so I am sure the community would help share some or all of the costs of kicking it off. Enlightened mutual self interest!!

The biggest expense with forums is the web hosting, if you can get it free your laughing, mine runs at around £350 per year, I'm just contemplating moving to a different host though but still price is similar.

So you get 200 - 500 regular members they only need to donate £2 each and your covered...

LRE & LRO use/d a forum engine that you paid for, bloody stupid, cause there's some really good free ones out there..

So if a magazine uses the excuse they close a forum for financial reseasons, thats pretty lame because £300 - £400 isn't much in the scheme of things..

You could raise that amount from sales of stickers and Tshirts.....happily most of us in the Land Rover fraternity seem to wear size XXL [for comfort and value, of course] so the production risk is reduced.

Land Rover Addict makes a good T shirt slogan.
