mateyboy
I like how he states 'for sale on behalf of a customer', I wonder if he'd take a PX on it or do finance

JST
i knew it was a wind up when Nick suggested he was going to 'buy' something!
ThreePointFive
James, if I buy it can I bring it to one of your events? I think we can all agree the worst thing about it is the engine. You go to all that trouble to remove the most important parts of the vehicle and yet not once did they think that leaving a 2.5TD in place was a bad idea!! Actually looking at the rest of the vehicle I expect it made perfect sense to them...
FridgeFreezer
I think it's worse than that, I don't think the RR ever came with the 2.5TD, that was just Defenders. So the chances are they've ripped out a V8 and stuck that in there. They've actually fitted it on purpose.
ThreePointFive
Has that EVER happened before?!!?!
FridgeFreezer
Aha, found it... Although it's a close run thing...
errol209
But at 92.5 wheelbase, it could have been a 90, but then where does the RR bit come from? Or is it just the V*N plate that's RR? You think that colour and death trap potential is better than a 2.5TD? Points decision for me. edit: think before you press add ...

I'm not sure anything on that could be measured to an accuracy of 0.5"
sheeppimp
I'm not sure anything on that could be measured to an accuracy of 0.5" you're probably right (it's a bit unfair to blame the poor builders guide dog though - land rover seem to struggle with that sort of pinpoint accuracy )
Retroanaconda
It's most likely a Defender with all the bodywork removed, engine etc left in, and then that "roll cage" built around it. Hence the 2.5TD. Also makes it a ringer with the RR's identification, if there wasn't enough wrong with it already! What I want to know is what MOT garage was stupid enough to give it a ceritficate. p38rr
What I want to know is what MOT garage was stupid enough to give it a certificate. From what I can see it has all the requirements for a MOT cert. Doesn't make it road legal though. Two completely different things!!! Retroanaconda
I was thinking more that the MOT station might take a bit of responsibility and look into the history of a '1972 Range Rover' with all those characteristics.
lansalot
Are these the same people as the seller then ? http://www.tonks4x4.com/ (And isn't there a name along those lines haunting this very website.... ?) AJL
Oh dear! Very lucky re the police. I'm curious to know how you insured it. What did you tell the insurers? James

errol209
I think this might be a wind up, seeing as the buggy was unsold. Which re-arranges nicely into: I think the buggy might be a wind up, seeing as this was unsold.
