stuck
Hi all, Can anybody tell me if a truck with bucket seats with 5 point harnesses will pass the MOT if standard seat belts are not fitted? To me it's obvious that it should but... Cheers, Mick.

ThreeSheds
The link from mike4444244 - 1/2 way down the page: Note 3: An adult harness belt comprising a lap belt and shoulder straps bearing a British standard marking is an acceptable alternative to any of the seat belt types listed. Aragorn
It must have a red push button release and not a flap or aircraft style twist lock. Otherwise you should be fine.

errol209
Acceptable to what? Where is the list please as I could not find it:) Cheers, Marc. I read it as an acceptabe alternative to anything, lap belts, fixed diagonals with no lap belt, standard 3-point inertia reels, etc.

Aragorn
Well i'm sure everyones aware that passing an MOT with them fitted doesnt make them road legal. I've heard it said numerous times over the years that only e-marked harnesses with the standard single safety buckle are road legal. Its related to emergency services being able to release them quickly and simply in accidents etc. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/92925-road-legal-harnesses-2.html That contains a quote from the law regarding the belts, and as i suspected, it basically says it needs to have a press release colored red to be road legal. Meaning twisty aircraft buckles are NOT road legal, irrespective of whether they can pass an MOT
landroversforever
whats the legality of having both in place?
NicTheOrange90
In my off road 90, I had standard belts and changed the seat belt bolts for ones with eyes in the hareness could be fitted/removed when required or for cleaning. MOT man saw the standard ones, and the E approved for off road events.
