LandyManLuke
Does anyone have a defender 200tdi with tapped holes on the timing cover for the air con mount bracket? Mine is just blank castings on the housing and cover. I could take an educated guess, but I'd much prefer some input from others who actually have the factory/LR drilled and tapped holes. Many thanks, Luke
Ex Member
No and I've never seen one with factory tapped holes. I tapped mine. I think that they are M10. The center locations are pretty obvious.
western
No, not seen a 200Tdi with those holes drilled/tapped, mine certainly isn't. bolts are Bolt M10 x 50 mm LR part BH110101L so the parts book & here tells me.
Unsworth
Mine has, But it is a Discovery 200TDI I am fitting so that doesnt really count.
Ex Member
Have a look at a 2.5NA. They are all tapped that I have seen and the mount is exactly the same. That is why I tapped mine, to move the compressor bracket over to the 200TDI.

LandyManLuke
Any chance of the dimensions of the disco tapped holes, for comparison? Now, I just need to find someone with a 2.5N/A too. Cheers, Luke
Ex Member
The Disco engine is completely different in this area, so that is of no help. It is very OBVIOUS. 10 mm tapped holes in the center of where they appear to go.....
LandyManLuke
Obvious indeed, I agree, the casting is such that its easy to imagine where the holes 'should' go, but if i'm going to invest time in making a bracket to use those holes, I'd much prefer to design it such that the holes are in the right place, so the bracket would fit other vehicles. Ex Member
Fair enough. Measure up a 2.5NA then. The holes are in the center of the circular areas. If you are building stuff for sale, I would simply purchase a stock air con bracket and measure that..... Make sure the bolts make it all the way through the casting without touching the timing belt. The aluminum is not the best and strips easily, so full depth bolts are a damn good idea. This is of little help as my own bracket is in the way, but it is a picture anyway.....
