bishbosh
Back home for some tea and a comfy bed before returning for Day 2 tomorrow. It seems that the attrition rate was pretty high with breakages very early on, but running repairs saw most if not all back out again for some part of the day. I was marshalling Special Stage 5 all day so the few pics I remembered to take willl be a bit samey. The stage looked pretty innocuous at first and I thought I was in for a dull day. Of course, I should have known better at one of James' events and the final toll of the stage was 2 ropes, a blown up twin motor (twice!) and a tyre off the bead forcing an awkward in stage tire change (against the clock!). As always it is very interesting to watch the different approaches taken by the teams. Anyhow, enough of me, here's the action:

Brookers
What a good weekend, Thankyou James for some truly difficult sections, well thought out, well planned and well marshalled. A big thankyou to all the marshalls and OEC for making the event happen. I would also like to thank Tony for giving me the opportunity to play winch monkey for him, if you ever need a co driver give me a shout mate. I think special mention should be made that Tony managed to get a full bodied 90 through SS (can't remember the number) on Sat that the marshall thought we would have no chance fitting through! Off to finish cleaning my kit now. Who got pics? Brookers
expat69
Spotted a very muddy trayback on trailer behind a burgundy Toyota land cruiser (with snorkel, etc) on the hard shoulder on the M5 (before Bristol)... Orange van was already on site... anyone of you ??? Also big Thank You to Anton (OEC), who told me... "no problem to access Uplowman site.... easy track... Adrian will be there until 4pm".... He just forgot that my Disco was on slicks.. and Adrian had already left the site at 3:30pm.... (But happy to say that I did not need a tow to go back to the road... but the disco needs a serious clean now and the tow bar is well scratched ...) I hope that Adrian managed to retrieve his porn DVDs...

JST
I trust you all enjoyed the weekend and i had found enough for you to keep busy with. i have taken on board the point ref too much rest time for codrivers and will aim to rectify that in the next 2 day event ( Wellington - 10/11 Oct 09 entry forms available) i am sure i can find enough for you to do! Although i said it on Sunday i would like to reinforce my thank you to the Marshalls for giving up their time and helping with the running of the event, i am totally reliant on them to ensure the success of the weekend and i think we all agree they did a sterling job - Thank you. Of course we cant forget our event sponsors , OEC and Superpro for providing prizes and on site facilities - Anton, Richard and crew thank you. Thank you also for all the feedback over the weekend and i am glad the concept for the Sunday worked and the stages seemed to be set just about right looking at the finishing times i have emailed out the results to your team captains and will also attempt to upload them here. ciderman
Firstly I would like to thank James for putting on one of the best events ever ,The stages were truly inspirational and well thought out and offered a varying array of terrains and obstacles ,(Not that I did many ) But the ones we did were amazing , Equal thanks goes out to the many marshals who were all spot on ,and of course the sponsers ,Anton ,Liz and the crew at OEC who were as ever great with their warming hospitality and support. It was also good to meet up with freinds old and new again ,And even the weather was ok , Congrats to CSW on their well deserved win , They did realy work hard keeping at it . I realy think this event should be not left too long before the next , the last one was 2006 , Lets hope the next one is 2010 and with the reputation of this years event im sure all 6 teams will be entering. You didnt get stuck on the access track though did you . And a tow was not needed as Mr Trembath was there to offer some of his driving tuition skills ,
treebloke
But complete the event we did and our team (ended up down to three) worked bloomin hard (my co driver Brookers looked flogged out thanks Neil for stepping up.) Dawn got stuck in and enjoyed most of it, she doesnt like it when I shout at her. We only did the sunday but that was a cunning little route through the woods. I liked the way it all linked up, straight off one into the next, no hanging around (well there was one bit but best not go there, Tony snapped his 12mm twice).
