white90 Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I have fitted x2 new batteries they sit a little higher in the battery box I have tried to get them in there as low as possible whilst still using the original clamp the rear most sites high enough where the pos terminal touches the battery box cover I have covered the terminal with a plastic cover and two sheets of 2mm rubber. anyone else have a suggestion? the shape of the battery box bottom causes the issue I could cut it out but there is nothing wrong with it so what have you done? BogMonster Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Fit a hydraulic winch? Why my coat, thank you, oh and look here is the door Quote
Jon White Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I cut out and lowered the bottom of the one on my series. Jon Quote
jcwcooper Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Can you move the batteries closer to the taller end of the battery box? With mine Ive had to use a smaller red top for the engine and the numax at the front for the winch. Best bet though is proberly too lower the box a few inches. Dave. Quote
white90 Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Can't move them forwards as the isolators are all on the front of the seat box Quote
headhunter Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I have made a new cover out of 5mm chequer plate with a cut-out where the terminal protrudes. John Quote
mmgemini Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Tony. I made a complete battery box. Flat bottomed with the ouside deeper once it cleared the chassis rails. I think I even put the dimensions up as well. Here we go....Mikes Battery Box HTH mike ps. The other thing..My battery box lid has half inch plywood on the bottom for when it gets used as a jack base. The ply also helps the terminals shorting out. Quote
white90 Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Great work Mike and a few ideas for me now thanks. Quote
mmgemini Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 Thank you for those kind words Tony. That's one of the reasons I post my modifications. So people can copy and improve on what I've done. If you take the seat box out you can make the new battery box with less pieces. All I've to do now is the side under my drivers seat to get more room for my recovery gear. mike Quote
rusty_wingnut Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I have got exactly this problem! I have no isolators yet though and would like to keep the motor fairly standard. White90 what did you use to level the batteires up? They sit sloped unless packed up due to the shape of the box. Also are the clamp bolts long enough? Quote
