Hybrid_From_Hell Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi All, My ARB Compressor suddenly died, after much faffing about its the relay wihich has thrown in the towel , but at least I've found the issue But The relay on there is a : BOSCH 12V 30A P/N 0332014112 (and no I don't have a F spare ) But 3.5 / 3.9 Fuel and Main relays look very similar and I shoved one in gingerly and it works (without any smoke or acrid smells ) BUT its a : BOSCH 12V 30A P/N 0332014113 Pin Config on the back is the same (5 Pins) and each pin has the same number etc, so how safe am I using it, and does anyone clever know WTF the difference is between a BOSCH 12V 30A P/N 0332014112 vs a BOSCH 12V 30A P/N 0332014113 ?? FridgeFreezer Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 If it works then there's probably naff all difference, the part# could include a diode across the coil, a mounting bracket on the body, or anything really. Quote

As Fridge said Nige Part No 0332014113 With diode. Part No 0332014113 Without diode- Now use 0332019151 which was discontinued 08/2005 Ash Quote
Hybrid_From_Hell Posted October 5, 2009 Author Posted October 5, 2009 Wots the diode do then in an ARB ? and why on earth would they fit one with one ? vs a relay with no diode ?, wouldn't a diode relay be more for a delicate ECU type situ ? Nige Quote
FridgeFreezer Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Diode is reversed across the coil, when you switch the relay off it stops the thing acting like an ignition coil and sending a +ve pulse back up the wire as the field collapses. The diode shorts it out. Quote
BogMonster Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Don't mention the words "short out", "Nigel" and "electricity" in the same topic or Gawd knows what will happen Quote
