Hi all,

I have a small technical issue and apologise if already covered.

As the title suggests, my rear bump stops are a little worse for wear.

Unfortunately the replacement of them has now been moved up the list of "things to do,when nothing better to do" as one 'helpful' other half decided to poke and snap off one of the offending items! It came off in his hand apparently.... <_<

The problem is we cannot seem to get the nuts, that hold them onto the studs/bracket on the chasis,to undo. The top end doesnt appear to be a proper size (somewhere between 9 and 10 ml?)and everything just seems to spin.

Are we being dopey or is ther a knack to it?

Many thanks in advance.

the bolts would be 8mm with a 13mm nut so are rusty you best bet is to cut the nut off with a hacksaw and buy new 2 m8x25-30mm with lock nuts

the bolt fits in to a slotted hole and the new bump stop has an 88m clear hole

Mine required the humble attention of mr angry grinder to remove.

I thought that was how a LR was generally taken apart... are these bolts intended to be re-usable???!? :)

The all do that sir! ;)

But - better that than having them fall off next time they are actually needed!

I blew out the pinion in mine half-way through the job, and that was on a Dewalt contractor grade one. :)

There are plans to come up with a t-shirt....

"If you could put something together with an angle grinder you'd only need one tool...

Land Rover Logo".
