blz6662 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Hi guys just a bit of help on this. My 1988 3.5 efi flapper rangie is undergoing a total rebuild at the mo and although the current engine isn't bad I just thought - whilst I'm in there - shall I fit the 4.2 Hotwire complete from my donor LSE. The 4.2 will be stripped and reconned before going to the trouble of this. Dont want to go Cats though so how do I go about this on the ECU - or do I let Mr Mark Adams tickle it. cheers in advance Baden Quote
steve_d Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 You would need to transfer the whole EFI loom and ECU along with the 4.2 as flapper and hotwire are wired differently. I believe here is a resistor (Green) that can be fitted into the hotwire loom that tells the ECU there are no cats. Or you could fit MegaSquirt. Steve Quote
bobtail84 Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 MegaSquirt. Do you see a theme developing here... jeff Quote
Dengie Boy Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 undergoing a total rebuild at the mo - whilst I'm in there - Also required 3 lifetimes to rebuild 'em(any size!) I ended up saying "whilst I'm there" when working on my rangie and ended up spending 4years working on it. I still run the flapper system but IMHO would look into Megasquirt rather than changing it for your hotwire. Good luck with the rebuild, hope your posting pics of it. Quote
