Hi all

I just got around to replacing the wiring loom of my 200tdi 90 (1993) and have a couple of issues. I am using the main harness for diesels and (alledegly) the engine harness for a 200tdi from AutoSparks, the first issue is they sent the engine loom for a 2.5TD but they are basically the same except for the plug on to the Alternator so I adjusted that end and installed it from the Starter and the Alternator and hooked up the white/brown and the white to the Stop Solenoid and Cold Start job. No drama so far... it plugged into the other end of the old and the new main loom.

Then I removed the entire dash and got to work inside and installed the loom to the fuse panel bar and discovered there to be two extra relay housings that my old set up didn't have. currently they are installed but have no relays on them, I will supply wiring info on them tomorrow when I can see. I decided this was odd but since I also found a label on a plug up behind the dashpod that said 'for petrol' and one that said 'for diesel' I figured they used one set up that could do all applications. Then things got a bit more odd as the two relays hidden behind my dash pod on a little clip into the bulkhead are not present on the new loom! In the engine bay one plug is also not on the new loom but two are that weren't on the old!! The one that is missing in the engine bay has the about 5 cables on one side and two scappy looking greens coming from the other side!! Photos and details will follow but its now pitch dark and I can't find my torch which is in the truck!

I was just wondering if anyone had come across issues like this before, the autosparks loom is not a perfect match up but I am wondering if in fact the truck just has odd wiring, it was never very good and over the last few years every gauge and light has stopped working. It is a softtop 90 and all I want is it to start, drive, flash some basic lights and have a heater that at least attempts to warm the cab in the winter so if the loom installed is for a 2.5td or a 200tdi it shouldn't prevent that eventual outcome?

More pressingly she won't start but the starting side of things is all in place. She cranks strongly but won't fuel, I am hoping that it is just a suspect relay causing the stop solenoid to not receive any juice, does anyone have any other thoughts? I will check the relay tomorrow and see where voltage is being received.

Thoughts and advice greatfully received

Thanks!

white/brown is to the fuel shut off solenoid [single wire only]

white is a ignition controlled feed

relay sockets could be start relay [brown & red/white wires]

brake check relay [black/white trace wires]

2 relay's in right corner behind instrument pack are for rear screen heater & voltage sensing switch [these are on a seperate loom for the rear screen heater/rear wsh/wipe]

Cheers for the reply, I don't need the ones behind the dash then (probably explains why they went no where!) since I have a canvas top on. For the brake check I could find nothing inthe engine bay on the new loom to run the black/white and black cables from the top of the brake resevoir cap into? ANy thoughts!? I will have a better hunt at the weekend.

The main thing is with the new alternator arriving tomorrow my truck is back on the road :D

Does anyone have a link to a decent wiring diagram for the 200tdi?!

Thanks

Andy

Hi, western, dont suppose you still have those diagrams do you, just fitted my 90 with a blade fuse harness, all is good apart from. ..

Voltage is fine to the fuel stop solenoid when the ignition is on but it loses it when cranking? Any ideas or a diagram would be great :)

Thanks
