Yostumpy Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 My 110 suffers from some backlash, changed the driveshafts and members, and MOST of the bushes with poly. Each time I change something I think ah! thats better, but it comes back. Its a sort of shunting between the front and rear axles, BUT when Wallace is heavilly laden it goes away!, so cant be t.box. A frame ball and bushes maybe? ie the weight squashing it all down and tightening it up, or doesn't it work that way. Thanks in advance chasps! Quote
ejparrott Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 which bushes have havent you changed? Quote
Yostumpy Posted October 14, 2009 Author Posted October 14, 2009 which bushes have havent you changed? A frame bushes and axle end trailling arm at rear, looked good and solid when I changed chassis end. changed the complete fronts thogh. Quote
Eightpot Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 I had loads of shunt up until recently when I changed the axle end rear trailing arm bushes.. they were the last ones I changed as well. they didn't even seem that bad, even though they were completely shot - even got past an mot examiner, and only got picked up when I went back for a retest by a different examiner. allex Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 1. Rear a-frame ball joint and bushes (a lousy job) 2. Check your rear control arm bushes are tightened, especially if they've been changed. 3. Put gearbox in neutral. Twist rear propshaft and look for play in control bushes or diff. I suspect diff wear Quote
Yostumpy Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Had a look today, out of the 10 bolts on the axle locating arms, 8 were slack, of which 3 were, well, Very slack. Much nicer to drive now, thanks all! That'll learn me! Quote
Yostumpy Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 However the tightening of the bolts didn't cure it, just made it a bit less! It was a kind of surging of the engine at light (feathering) of the throttle whilst moving, Didn't do it stationary. Anyway I've cured it but not sure how! Try as I can I can't make it happen any more,25mph in 4th around town, coasting down from 50mph with v.light throttle, NO it wont do it any more? Before it would start to lurch, get worse, then start crunching in t.box if I didn't dip the clutch or something. The only thing I did was to replace the 15,000mile old std air filter with a K+N. I know there are fors, and againsts here, but it cured it. All I can think was that it was blocked and it was sipping air at low throttle. Pulls like a bl@#dy train now, and ive yet to put my de cat pipe on. Will prob also put a straight thro centre pipe, if I can get one in mild steel, then wait till centre box goes and change em then.
