Where did you get the rings from?

All the ones i have seen use m8 x 1.25.If they arnt metric then they must be UNF.

The metric threads can a number of different pitches, the staqndard one owuld eb the one you find most common but you can tget the others from specialists.

e.g. M14 ISO is 2.0 mm pitch but is can also come in 1.5 and 1.25 (maybe 1.75 too?) . The info if you are interested can be googled.

Yep, all those that I have worked on have been 5/16 UNF …………….. Including the new replacements  …………. If you are short of nuts the propshaft bolts are the same thread and most folk have a few of those hanging around. ;)

I thougt propshaft bolts werev 3/8" UNF

Well spotted both Mike & Les,

I’ve just been to the workshop and checked a new turret ring ………..5/16 UNF ……… and just checked prop bolts 3/8 UNF …………earlier when doing the same I picked up a shanked 5/16 UNF bolt with a nyloc nut and wrongly assumed it to be a prop bolt :( …….....its real job in life is a bracket mounting bolt from a V8 ...........must try harder

I know the felling Ian.

It's only that I know a 9/16 AF spanner does the prop bolts that I remember these things.

I still have difficulty with the metric things!!!!
