Was unable to undo crank nut using the starter motor so made up this tool, rough, but it did the job!post-5195-125767748735_thumb.jpgYou can use drills or bolts of the correct dimensions instead of the timing tools to lock everything to TDC.Check the belt when you take it off,if it has no fraying on the sides,it shows it is running true.If it is frayed, best to use a crank gear that has an integral flange, rather than one that has a washer spot welded to it.Obtain from Bearmach. You will need a 32 mm open ended spanner to undo the viscous fan, left hand thread [common Ford spanner].Check out the article from www.difflock.com

no, not a problem if timing is off. it is usaully one tooth either side of where it needs to be. if you feel the pump timing has not moved, just move the rest around one tooth. or if you are confident on the rest of the timing, and you think it is the pump, just move it's timing around a bit...

it is pretty straight forward. like i said, mark all of the gears/pulleys you can with a paint pen or similar, and if you are replacing any of the pulleys, then mark the block aswell, and transfer the marks if on pulleys to there replacements. remember that some have key ways, so line up the replacement the correct way before you mark them.
