Luwts
Anyone knows someone in Uk that is using Disco 2 axles for challenges? apart from being wider, radius arms at the back and uncovered cvs in the front, what is the difference? are they any better than 24 spline axles? or the same, and do heavy duty shafts exist for them? I'm dreaming of using a 35 inch tyre with arb lockers on them..Can they handle the stresses with normal shafts? Thanks Luwts
88 inch of pure pleasure
i think to find any lr axle that would hold up to lockers and 35's on standard shafts ud be almost a god there were some trucks from the north offroad stand at the petobourgh show on disco 2 axle's im sure
russ1
Ashcroft makes cv`s shafts etc for these, I belive that if you have a problem with a cv and want to change them in the field its alot harder than defedner axles Russ
ajh
Also your kingpin castor will be way off if you lift much and it is not as easy as fixing it with swivels.
Soren Frimodt
I've seen several Trialers use these axles. Don't exactly know why but would think it's because of the 24 spline shafts and the 4-pin diffs
will_warne
IMHO the main advantage is that you can run a MUCH larger cv and shafts - it genuinely takes the front axle up to the strength of the rear axle. However, you still have a diff that isn't really up to the job.... If you really want to stay Rover and want strength then I'd wait for Ashcroft's Force 9. Daan
I reckon a td5 axle with the force 9 diff will be a good option. Daan
russ1
What kind of price are you looking at for a set of force 9s? Russ

Daan Ahh, but the Force9 axles use a new, fabricated, open knuckle which allow you to run an even larger D60 type CV with 1.5" OD shafts. Yes and even a larger wallet size Thanks all for your replies, seems there's no budget axles (landrover related) which can hold arbs and 35s... I am probably wrong but i remember hearing it some where maybe from a bloke down the pub
