AndyO Posted December 2, 2009 Share Posted December 2, 2009 I think that my ACE sytem on the disco has started leaking. I had to top up the resevior & have noticed a small spot on the car park. Need to get under and check properly this weekend (thanks going to be ufun in december!), however does anyone know if there is a common problem with the ACE that can cause it to leak, (and therefore might be fixable), or is it leaking, therefore buggered, therefore more expensive! You should be able to see 4 pipes attached to the chassis behind the drivers side front wheel. They go into a box under the drivers door attached to the chassis. It's here the pipes get peppered by road grit when you're driving. Problem is that if one pipe's gonr, then it's likely the others aren't far behind. Replacement pipes from LR are expensive (around £80 each, and I beleieve there are around 8 or more. If you're a home DIY-er, you can replace the faulty pipe - a more common fix is to replace the section with some pipe and a pipe flange kit... If your vehicle is coil sprung (i.e. not airbags) then you won;t notice if you remove the ACE altogether - the air suspension drive without ACE is more "lively"... I had mine removed earlier this year (coil sprung). It did cost £300. As well as removing the pipes, reprogramming the "brain" to tell it there's no ACE, you also need non-ACE roll-bars and to remove the ACE pump. The ACE pump is at the front of the motor and driven by the aux drive belt. When the ACE pump is removed you need a jockey wheel in it's place - a good time to put the new aux drive belt on at the same time... Don't drive far without fluid in teh eystem - if the ace pump siezes, then the aux drive belt gets into trouble - could be VERY expensive!
