Spongie2a
My Dads Discovery has now started having the alarm problems, tried using the fob to unlock the discovery, wouldnt unlock. Using the key unlocked the door but imobiliser wouldnt come off. Door would then lock on the fob but not unlock. If you open the door on the key the Alarm goes off... If we ASSUME that the problem is the spider and we fit the bypass for the Imboliser would we be able to unlock the discovery using the key and not have the alarm constantly going off or is our problem elsewhere? Ally V8
Forget the spider,it is either the fob or something to do with the alarm ecu or its wiring. The spider is only switched by the alarm ecu and only immobilises the engine. The fob mobilises the alarm ecu which then switches the smart spider on to allow cranking/fuel and sparks if its a petrol.Have you tried the EKA code ? BogMonster
...or the spare keyfob? First step change battery in keyfob (or try the spare) if that doesn't work, as Ally said - its nothing to do with spiders
MrKev
I'd start by cleaning the switch contacts in the remote. The PCB part should be shiney, not covered in black stuff. The rubber pills just need a wipe. Kev
Spongie2a
SORTED: The Spare Fob has never worked as one of the switches is broken off the PCB, however... The main Fob on closer inspection turned out that the battery holder had a dry joint which wasnt contacting... and Ta Da no Fob. Resoldered and working lovely... for Free
