gaz0203
weve just put arb lockers in my mates challenge 90 after it chewed the back diff, we bought them secondhand built up in series 3 diffs, prob is now its horrendously low geared, i take it the originals were 3.54's?????? what are these series diesel ones likely to be an is there one we can use as an inbetween?? see its very good offroad as it is but painful on the road. cheers
Hybrid_From_Hell
Changing the CWPs ratio will alter on and off road, change the TBox ratios and you'll keep the "Good" off road and change / improve the on road Nige
gaz0203
allready done, disco transfer fitted but still painful, wel revert to the 3.54s if thats the only option but just wondered whether there was a ratio in between these and the series 3s
DaveSIIA
If you like the "crawler gearing" that 4.7's give in low box then you should try a 1.003 high ratio transfer box out of a three speed auto Range Rover. It will give you a fairly long legged high ratio but there will be a fair amount of propshaft/transmission "whine" at road speed. For comparison, the Disco transfer box is ~1.2:1 in high ratio and the Series III about 1.148:1.
