Serengeti Special Edition

Afternoon all! I'm looking at Discovery IIs and have found a rather nice example in Oslo Blue with Grey cloth interior. It's on an 02 plate (May or reg) with only 15k on the clock! ! It's a Serengeti Special Edition?

The question is, what spec would the Serengeti have!! The trouble is I can't see the car for another 8-10 days, so have put a fully refundable "holding" deposit down, but I need to know what I'm looking for when I do see it!!

Any clues as to where I might find a full spec list??

TIA

Adrian

They are all square headlamp version pre 2003 model year; Based on either the basic E or S spec (can't remember) but with single slot CD, 18" alloys, and climate control; from memory. Not sure if the have the plastic wheel arch extensions.

My mum had one of these a few years ago (02 plate), and IIRC it had 18" alloys, the 6 speaker ICE, climate control, plastic wheel arch extensions, and......erm.....what else?.....erm.....roof rails........ but I dont remember if there was much else 'special edition' to it apart from the badge.

I like the oslo blue colour, not everyone's taste, but I like it!

15K on the clock is quite remarkable! Lets just hope its because it didn't spend 3 years in Land Rovers workshops!!!

Hope all goes well with the purchase and lets hope you can wangle a few quid off as well.

Cheers for that! The more digging I do, the less spec it appears to have! Still, if it's got a CD player and A/C then it can't be too bad - what else do you need?!?

As for the price - it needs a bit of negotiation! After all it is only an S with £1000 of dealer fitted accessories! It should be at about £12k at a dealer without the mileage taken into account! Got to see if they'll throw in some extras (tow bar and side steps - maybe a bike!!!) and knock the price down a bit!

If it hasn't got the spec you want then shop around. There are lots of high spec disco II's for sale. I've got a 51 plate adventurer and it has all the toys inc cornering enhancement and traction control. I've seen a few of these in the auto trader in the last few months.

Shopping around is a good suggestion, but am I likely to find another 4 year old car that's only done 15000 miles?

It's worth the sacrifice of the "expensive to repair" toys just for the fact that it'll last me ages! After all, there's always aftermarket shiney bits!!

There is an argument that says a high miler (ie under 60k) that has been regularly serviced and just done motorway miles is a better bet than something that has been to the shops and back for 4 years...

I'd ask how many previous owners, and if it was a demo

Cheers
