Phil
Afternoon, all, can someone please explain or illustrate how the roof of an '02 110 CSW is fixed to the windscreen frame? I'm trying to track down an annoying 'knocking' noise which I hear everytime I go over a bump in the road. It seems to be coming from above the driver's door, although given the way noises travel round the vehicle I wouldn't be surprised to find the source is the exhaust tailpipe! Many thanks, Phil. JST
if you take the sun visors off you can pull down the front of the headlining. there are slots front roof horizontal section which hold a captive nut. they run all the way along to the top of the roof section. bolts go up into these from the top of the windscreen IIRC. there are also two bolt that go horizontally into the roof sides. there are captive nuts in the roof panel to accept these nuts. these quite often break off and could be your rattle. Its unlikely to the ones along the top edge (rather than the side) as the nuts are mounted into a reasonably sized plate - cant see one of them breaking off. Phil
Thanks, chaps, I'm thinking the nut and bolt at the side might be the cause. I'm ok with taking the headling down so I'll have a look once the weather warms up a bit! Cheers, Phil.
