Hillbilly Raider
Right can someone please explain this to me? OT... when it has nothing to do with the original thread topic?.. Yes? But what about if it is sort of on topic? following the line of conversation type thing, what then? Is this a "OT or OT "( on topic/ off topic depending on whos reading it) or a "OT( on topic) or a "OT" ( off topic)? post? NOT BEING FUNNY just a wee bit unsure. Mandy. OT = Off Topic ane when back on the original subject, known as talking out of your BOT (Back On Topic)
Tonk
OT is generally put in the title of the thread or subtitle to say whether it is off topic or not
Les Henson
OT means Off the Topic of the forum - Land Rovers. If someone wants to post something unrelated to Land Rovers, then ok, but in order to inform those that use the forum specifically for Land Rover related topics, then the OT at the beginning of the title will then inform them of this. The 'Topic' can be the theme of the forum (i.e. Land Rovers in this case) - so if someone makes a post about oh, I don't know... Mothers Day or an event in their personal life or TV theme tunes or 'nettiquette', it should be avoided state 'OT' in the title. On the other hand if someone posts an on-topic thread (i.e. something to do with off-roading or Land Rovers) but the subject drifts onto cookery or music or something else, it is now 'OT'. It is not 'on-topic' if you post something relevant to the current conversation which has drifted away from the original topic - you are still OFF topic. Al. There are, it seems, people who get remarkably worked up about that, too. I think they've got their thumbs stuck up their BOTs.
