Is it me, or does that have a distinct whiff of Orange? unsure.gif

Looks very similar to another well known twin motor top housing n'est ce pas?

I suppose imitation is the greatest form of flattery?

Then again, there can only be so many ways to fit two motors on an 8274.... and the extra competition can only be good for us consumers....

How else would you fit a twin motor setup? Good question....

There is another setup from MB Corse...I´ll see if I have a few images.

Tibus is working on a completely sealed and waterproofed winch, too, that runs in oil.

I'm not sure it's 100% MB Corse design...

Thanks for the link!

Nice to see an alternative option on the market.

I just need to save €€€...again...and again...

To be honest if anyone on here (or anywhere else for that matter) who has uttered a word against Scorpion goes out and then buys one of these then you should brand yourselves as amongst the biggest Hypocrites on the planet!!

This is the most blatant copy I have ever seen!!!

There is absolutely no way that this was "designed" by anyone else but Gigglepin!!! just look at the total design! OK there are only so many ways to fit two motors on. BUT there are a billion ways to design strengthening ribs etc. AND what do the six bolt holes fit to? you have 3 on a standard 8274!!! Oh yes! it fits to Jim's lower doesn't it! Absolute LOW LIVES!!!!!!! no other expression describes them!

Well said LARA I hate copy merchants and would not buy or have anything from them ever

same as Scrappyiron who tried to ruin so many companies.

The change a few things to get around patent makes me sick.

Jim spent his time and money to design what he has then these people buy/obtain one and copy it.

The investment from Gigglepin and the likes of X eng and Gwynn lewis is why I would not buy from rip off suppliers even if it costs me.

I do not place a monetary value on decency and as such I hope they sell none.

I can assure you all that having just got off of the phone with a certain BRITISH manufacturer.

THESE ARE ABSOLUTE BLATANT COPIES AND NOT CONNECTED TO GIGGLEPIN IN ANY WAY!!! OTHER THAN BEING A CHEAP COPY

AND SHOULD BE TREATED WITH THE CONTEMPT THEY DESERVE

,

Hi,

Unfortunately it is true they have made a direct copy of our tried and tested Twinmotor tophousing.

In fact it is so exact they have even copied our mistakes !

Even worse is they have copied our mainshaft upgrades as well :(

These products are the end result of 7 years hard work, thousands of hours and thousands of pounds of development,

to say we are a litle upset is a mild understatement.

We would love to say "Don't buy that because it won't work" or "Don't buy that because it is poorly designed" but simple truth is that they have made an exact copy even down to the way the gears are cut and the same font for the writing on the side plate !

We are currently seeing what we can do to stop the sale of these items although the simple truth is probably not a lot apart from spend thousands on a court case we can ill afford.

But by God we will fight !

All we can hope is that we can drum up enough support from our loyal friends and customers to keep the tide of these units spreading.

These guys are worse than Scorpion (who at least had the decency to change somethings on the design!)

So please back us, help us as we have helped so many of you over the last 7 years.

Kind regards

Jim Marsden

I fully understand peoples fustration with companies like this one but its going to happen with every good design out in the market place. If people can see a way of making a quick buck they will do.

On another note I must mention that I did have a less than satisfactory experiance with Gigglepin on a main shaft upgrade kit supplied to me. One component was missing and when delivered they were closed for a long weekend with no way of contacting them so I missed the comp I was entered into. Also the price charged was different to the web site advertised price. When I managed to contact them I was told the price was correct and i was looking at the "wrong" web site. Seems they had 2 different sites active at the same time!!!

Customer service at its best! not.

Us also,

Many of you will have seen that Jim and I have had our "interesting" moments in the past and I am not one for licking arse,

But he has helped US, and many others I can think of during off road competitions, even to the point of aiding others who were in direct competition to his chances of wining!

We need to stand up for our morals and help people who try to further this sport and not just profit from it!!

I will back you all the way Jim!

Moral issues aside,if your dumb enough to buy one of these nasty little copies, dont be suprised when the parts

back up is nothing like that from the reputable Gigglepin.

And you wont dare take it out competing cause everyone will point and laugh!

Probably not a lot, even if the design was patented you would still have the expense of taking them to court.

I think the best thing is to get the word out as wide as possible that they have ripped off your design/s so that all resellers are aware that these are rip-off products and don't stock and re-sell them.

The problem is too many people buy on price without factoring in cost of development, original castings etc, marketing/sponsorship which you would hope to recoup over the lifetime of a product to make sure you make a profit. So when they see a cheaper version that seems to be the same they think the original company is fleecing them. If allowed to continue the small company will stop developing new products as they can't make money out of them.

People in the off road world need to get real. It costs money to develop new products; pay for refinements/initial breakages, sponsor teams and place ads to get the product noticed and offer good customer support with warranty back-ups.

So when a ripped off products come along that are cheaper they should ignore them, otherwise the original company will stop developing new products or go bust!

It would be good to see the magazines support this issue for a change. They seem to avoid it like the plague.

I'm all for a free market, but it doesn't absolve companies from having morals/ethics and consumers from having a conscience.

So no more buying pirated porno DVD's anymore Jim! wink.gifwink.gifwink.gif

Well I can only say that jim has always given me good service as an early convertor of his products. A few things have gone wrong but that's what happens with development and I have had various free upgrades posted out to me as the product has developed. Jim can come across as being a southern git at times but that's not his fault as they are all like that!

I think we have a free market and it can work. Sure, Gigglepin were the first to sell a bolt-on twin motor conversion, but that's been out for a couple of years and the market moves on. Imitators will appear, and British law isn't what it could be to protect design work.

The other side of this market is that if(!) Scorpion developed a widget we all wanted, they'd be free to charge what they wanted if nobody else could produce something similar, whether it's the idea or the execution that's protected.

Jim, Simon et al will continue to lead the market by adding value in other ways - through their manufacturing knowledge (how about the lightest casing on the market, that'll break unless the manufacturer understands the metallurgy, Jim?), through their pre-sales and aftersales service, by involving customers in their development process, and so on.

I'll get flamed for devil's advocate, and I am sorry to see your niche invaded, but I think you can keep moving the goalposts and work in other ways to control the market and continue to lead.
