Tibus Twin Motor for 8274

I feel sorry for Jim and it must be a hard pill to swallow, but to stay on top you've got to keep moving forward "onwards and upwards" as they say,

I bet Simex were sick as pigs when everybody and their dad made blatant copies of their tyres, but there are an awfull lot around now, or is that different ?

I will stick with Jim because he knows his products, backs them up and supplies a second to none service, and above all that he's a damn fine chap.

Keep smiling Jim

A shame this happens, but as said, its no different as simex copys, maxis tyres copying mickey thompson, or indeed Cheviot copying the flaming fabrications twin motor winch.

There is one lightpoint maybe: knowing wolfgang tibus' reputation on pirate 4x4, anyone spending money with him, is basically mentally challenged (not my words), so that, and the minimal price difference should make things not looking that bad after all.

All you can do is stay ahead and develop your product further.

My 2p.

One component was missing and when delivered they were closed for a long weekend with no way of contacting them so I missed the comp I was entered into.

I would say that was purely your fault for not ordering early enough...... imagine if you ordered it on the same day from Germany... think you would of made the event then?

Wot many others have said

The sad thing now is people do copy stuff to make a fast buck, but, and its a fairly big one

Morally many many people don't like it and it can completely switch them off from using

such scum that do these things to others.

Anyone like to redesign the "Not Scrapion" Sticker  ???

Frankly there is good news.

1 - Jim will get good press, as did Simon from X Eng, its almost free advertising

2- Jim / Gigglepin are a decent bunch of enthusiasts / tun into a business - quality service can mean a lot

3 - Morally mainly many people (me included) don't like to see small enterpenaurs shafted by ****s so will spread the word

4 - These sorts of companies often not only copy others, but with no morals their service is equally poor as well, so they die

5 - trying to sue them - they prob know at the end of the day most won't, but just don't use them, then they gop away

(or in colons case reappear and be instantly loathed again)

6- Jims kit is his design, his baby, his dream, and hence the backup will be there and a following too, it will though stick in his gullet

all we can do as the buyers is to support the small business with the desire to help design new products and stick 1 finger up at the copy ****s

:)

You have absolutly no idea about the circumstances behind this transaction, so I suggest before you make comments in future you make yourself aware of the facts.

For your information

Brake winch on Sunday, strip and inspect on Monday. Order parts on Tuesday, delivered on Thursday and inspect contents, try to contact supplier on Friday. Supplier closed for long weekend.

My fault!!

Think not, do you?

And where did I say I was going to buy anything from Germany?

Fact. Any quality good product available will get copied by somebody. Thank god it wasn`t by the Chineese. At least if its German it should be of a reasonable quality and could even be better. You never know, but there again you may know better than anybody else as you made judgement on my circumstances without the facts!

This is not a thread for arguing can you try to keep on the topic please.

your experience is your own and you are entitled to post your views.

Jim has replied, he has always been helpful to me so I speak as I find.

Maybe a German seller but where does it say made in Germany?

what makes that ok? far more likely to be a cheap copy from whereabouts who knows.

I posted on the forum where it broke cover, instantly members asked for me to be removed and or my posts or make them mod approved only, then I got a pm saying I should shut up

fair enough but I won't. I hope they go the way of Scrapiron after their despicable antics.

That's a bummer - it is a very blatant copy.

You know that even after the event, you can register it as a 'European Registered Design' which is intended to protect the appearance of a product rather than the mechanism. It appears to have more teeth (or at least cheaper teeth) than a patent. I hold several of these now and they only cost £300 or so to register.

Let me know if you'd like any help - or if there's anything I can do.

what is it with these people that want to copy other peoples kit, are they so incapable of designing something of their own

X-Eng, Gwyn Lewis no Jimbo @ Gigglepin

i for one will continue to use the original suppliers of them all and i hope all of the people on this and other forums give them 110% of their support to

i think i better start doing some more Gigglepin stickers to spread the word

There argument for this NOT being a copy appears to be quite flawed. They are showing other twin motor 8274 housings, but each of these has taken a slightly different approach and dont look like a replica. There will always be similarities between designs but Tibus has clearly copied where as equipe have clearly come up with there own design. I know which one i will be buying and that will be GIGGLEPIN!

Danger! Don't buy this winch twin-motor. First it will annexe your bumper, sign a non-agression pact with your engine, and then invade the engine anyway

if and when i buy any bits for an 8274 i know which direction my money is going and it aint to "ze germans"

Apologies to our German correspondents, I think. You could equally say that it would be immaculately engineered, efficient and utterly reliable!

However, I don't support or condone ripping off other people's work at all in any way whatsoever, and the IP / copyright / ERD mess needs much <rant> much much bigger teeth and an international body behind it willing to take a proper stand. </rant>

Jim deserves our support in this; the concept, design, development, testing and of course the expense/investment to do it has all been his. As a business man, he invested in his ideas, with the risk that goes with that. It is immoral for another company blatantly to copy it, benefitting from the concept, design etc, and also the market for this specialised kit that Jim has created, without the associated risk. Jim has a world class product, and all in the sport benefit from his creative thinking.

We've been here before with scrapiron, so we know what to do......

I think the phrase is "cheats never prosper" (unless you're an MP of course).

All this is not an issue with where the copy is originating

it is solely down to the individual copying it

He also posts regularly on Pirate so with any justice the machine that is Pirate may react to him and his decision to rip off a design.

the last time I recall them setting about a rip off merchant it was relentless.

This is not tibus's first attempt at copying.

He used to trade as killer axles, their unimog brake conversion was an inferior copy of exact's

Their customer service also leaves an awfull lot to be desired.

In short given my past issues with tibus i very much doubt that jim has anything much to worry about.

There has naturally been a lot of comparison to Scorpions antics, so I just thought I'd point out that personally I think Scorpion were a lot worse.

At the same time of ripping off Equipe, X-Eng, Staun etc designs they were also reselling the real products, taking the marketing money and sponsorship freebies as prizes in their challenge events in a business partnership with the companies they were in the process of ripping off behind their backs. Doesn't get much lower business ethics than that!!

but still its a bitter pill for gigglepin to swallow after all he put hours of blood sweat and many gallons of tears let alone money into his product then this scum bag comes along and takes the cream

and if this guy sells 10 housings thats 10 less that Jim sells, i spoke to him on the phone earlier and as he has said there are a few different twin motor conversions out there and that they are different to his and that these people are developing them not copying, but to do this is bang out of order in my book

I wonder if the castings come from the same source?

Hi,

Thank you for all the support and I apologise for the delay in responding, we have been seeking legal council and rechecking IP rights.

We are obviously rather annoyed at this blatant copy although i can not say more at this time.

I can confirm though that RT Quaife Engineering only supply Gigglepin 4x4 with these products and no others.

The products are a Gigglepin design and are made for us by them and nothing more, however we a have superb relationship that allows each company to help the other in many fields not just winches.

Once again hank you for your help.

You will get a "No holds Barred" answer from myself and Gigglepin 4x4 very soon, please be patient it will be worth the wait.

Kind regards

Jim Marsden
